Non- probability sampling is that sampling procedure which does not afford any basis for estimating the probability that each item in the population has of being included in the sample. Non- probability sampling is also known by different name such as deliberate sampling, purposive sampling and judgement sampling. In this type of sampling, items for the sample are selected deliberately by the researcher; his choice concerning the items remains supreme. In other words, under non- probability sampling, the organisers of the inquiry purposively choose the particular units of the universe for constituting a sample on the basis that the small mass that they so select out of a huge one will be typical or representative of the whole. For instance, if economic conditions of the people living in a state are to be studied, a few towns and villages may be purposively selected for intensive study on the principle that they can be representative of the entire state. Thus, the judgment of the organisers of the study plays an important part in this sampling design.
In such a design, personal element has a great chance of entering into the selection of the sample. The investigator may select a sample which shall yield results favourable to his point of view and if that happens, the entire inquiry may get vitiated. Thus, there is always the danger of bias entering into this type of sampling technique. But if the investigators are impartial, work without bias and have the necessary experience so as to take sound judgement, the results obtained from an analysis of deliberately selected sample may be tolerably reliable. However, in such a sampling, there is no assurance that every element has some specifiable chance of being included. Sampling error in this type of sampling cannot be estimated and the element of bias, great or small, is always there. As such this sampling design gets rarely adopted in large inquiries of importance. However, in small inquiries and researches by individuals, this design may be adopted because of the relative advantage of time and money inherent in this method of sampling. Quota sampling is also an example of non- probability sampling. Under quota sampling the interviewers are simply given quota to be filled from the different strata, with some restrictions on how they are to be filled. In other words, the actual selection of the items for the sample is left to the interviewer's discretion. This type of sampling is very convenient and is relatively inexpensive. But the samples so selected certainly do not possess the characteristic of random sample. Quota samples are essentially judgement samples and inferences drawn on their basis are not amenable to statistical treatment in a formal way.

Answer: (D) Non-probability sampling
Explanation
The central idea of the passage is focused on non-probability sampling. The text begins by defining non-probability sampling and listing its alternative names, such as deliberate, purposive, and judgement sampling. It details the process of how researchers deliberately select items for the sample based on their judgement, explains the risks of bias and personal elements entering the selection process, and discusses the advantages of time and cost savings. Furthermore, it introduces quota sampling as a specific example of this method. Throughout the passage, every paragraph and example serves to describe the characteristics, advantages, limitations, and applications of non-probability sampling, making it the primary focus of the text.

Answer: (C) Random Sampling
Explanation
Random sampling is a type of probability sampling where every member of the population has an equal, known, and non-zero chance of being selected. This is the opposite of non-probability sampling, where selection is based on the subjective judgment or convenience of the researcher rather than random selection, making it impossible to estimate sampling errors or ensure every element has a specifiable chance of inclusion.

Answer: (C) Only (a) and (b) are correct.
Explanation
According to the passage, the reliability of the results obtained from an analysis of a deliberately selected sample depends on the qualities of the investigators conducting the inquiry. The text explicitly states that such results can be tolerably reliable if the investigators are impartial, work without bias, and have the necessary experience to make sound judgments. This directly aligns with statement (a) regarding being unbiased and statement (b) regarding being experienced.

Why is the researcher's judgement vital in the non-probability sampling design ?
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (A) Researcher's choice concerning the items in the sample is supreme.
Explanation
Under non-probability sampling, the selection of the sample is not randomized but is instead deliberately determined by the investigator. The researcher's judgment is vital because their choice regarding which items to include in the sample is supreme. The organizers purposively select specific units of the population that they believe are typical and representative of the entire universe, making the researcher's subjective discretion the primary force behind the composition of the sample.

Bio-fuel
Henry Ford and Rudolf Diesel these two persons made revolution in motor car industry. They expected that their motor car should be run on fuel obtained from plants, but in those days crude oil was the cheapest and won the competition. Petrol became popular and dream of Henry Ford and Rudolf Diesel shattered. After a century the will of Henry Ford and Rudolf Diesel is about to fulfil. Presently the hike in the petroleum opens the channel for bio- fuel. Slowly the use of bio- fuel in cars, trucks and aeroplanes is becoming popular.
Brazil took lead in the bio- fuel. At present there are more than four hundred ethanol production centres in that country, that ethanol produced only from sugarcane. They do not use the pure gasoline but mixed 25% ethanol in it. In future, only ethanol consuming vehicles will be manufactured in that country. More and more land is used for the plantation of sugarcane and ethanol producing plants. "Gasoline cars are slowly disappearing." technicians of that country claim.
Ethanol is obtained from maize in America. Germany is the largest producer of biodiesel in Europe. Along with India other 30 countries are trying to produce ethanol from various plants. Ethanol can be produced from the plants like coconut, soybean, groundnut, palm, grapes and beetroot.
The most important thing is that conventional car engines can be run on bio- fuel. Apart from this, the proper mixture of ethanol in gasoline or diesel can be used as fuel. The conventional diesel engine can run better in 20% bio- fuel. It means there is no need to change the vehicle engines for bio- fuel. Its speciality is that Bio- fuel does not emit carbon- dioxide.
Nature take crores of years to produce crude- oil, instead the bio- fuel is obtained from the plants and vegetation. Bio- fuel not only emits the low carbon- dioxide but also does not emit the toxic gases like nitrogen oxide. The production of bio- fuel will be depending on the growth capacity of the plants and availability of land for the plantation. Answer: (C) (a), (b) and (c)
Explanation
Biofuels are liquid or gaseous fuels produced from biomass, which primarily consists of vegetation, agricultural crops, and plant residues. Because they are derived from renewable biological sources rather than fossilized organic matter, their combustion releases fewer harmful pollutants and greenhouse gases like carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, resulting in cleaner air and reduced environmental pollution. Furthermore, integrating biofuels into the energy mix directly substitutes and blends with traditional petroleum-based fuels, which decreases the overall demand for and consumption of finite crude oil reserves.

Read the following passage and answer the questions 11 - 15.
Of Force, Criminal Force and Assault
349. Force - A person is said to use force to another if he causes motion, change of motion, or cessation of motion to that other, or if he causes to any substance such motion, or change of motion, or cessation of motion as brings that substance into contact with any part of that other's body, or with anything which that other is wearing or carrying, or with anything so situated that such contact affects that other's sense of feeling.
Provided that the person causing the motion, or change of motion, or cessation of motion, causes that motion, change of motion, or cessation of motion in one of the three ways hereinafter described.
First - By his own bodily power.
Secondly - By disposing any substance in such a manner that the motion or change or cessation of motion takes place without any further act on his part, or on the part of any other person.
Thirdly - By inducing any animal to move, to change its motion, or to cease to move.
350. Criminal force - Whoever intentionally uses force to any person, without that person's consent, in order to the committing of any offence, or intending by the use of such force to cause, or knowing it to be likely that by the use of such force he will cause injury, fear or annoyance to the person to whom the force is used, is said to use criminal force to that other.
351. Assault - Whoever makes any gesture, or any preparation intending or knowing it to be likely that such gesture or preparation will cause any person present to apprehend that he who makes that gesture or preparation is about to use criminal force to that person, is said to commit an assault.
Explanation - Mere words do not amount to an assault. But the words which a person uses may give to his gestures of preparation such a meaning as may make those gestures or preparations amount to an assault.

Answer: (C) Assault
Explanation
Under Section 351 of the Indian Penal Code, an assault is committed when a person makes a gesture or preparation with the intention or knowledge that it will cause another person present to apprehend that criminal force is about to be used against them.
The act of unloosing the muzzle of a ferocious dog is a preparatory act. By doing this with the intention of causing Y to believe that the dog is about to be set upon Y, A creates an apprehension of imminent criminal force in the mind of Y. This scenario directly corresponds to Illustration (b) of Section 351, which explicitly classifies such an act as assault.

Answer: (B) Criminal Force
Explanation
According to Section 350 of the Indian Penal Code, a person is said to use criminal force if they intentionally use force to any person, without that person's consent, in order to commit any offence, or intending or knowing it to be likely to cause injury, fear, or annoyance to that person.
In this scenario, A intentionally pushes against Y in the street, which means A uses force by causing motion to Y using his own bodily power under Section 349. Since this force is used intentionally, without Y's consent, and with the specific intention of causing injury to Y, all the essential ingredients of criminal force are met. This directly corresponds to the illustration of criminal force under Section 350 of the Indian Penal Code.

Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) (b) is correct
Explanation
Under Section 349, force is used when a person causes motion to any substance that is in contact with what another person is wearing. Pulling a woman's veil changes the motion of the veil she is wearing, which constitutes force. Under Section 350, criminal force is established when force is used intentionally, without consent, and with the knowledge that it is likely to cause annoyance or fear. Pulling up a woman's veil without her consent, knowing it is likely to annoy her, fits this definition.
The explanation under Section 351 specifies that mere words do not amount to an assault. A verbal statement expressing an intention to give a beating, without any accompanying gesture or preparation, does not constitute an assault.
14Reading Comprehension

● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (A) Criminal Force
Explanation
According to Section 350 of the Indian Penal Code, a person uses criminal force when they intentionally use force to another person without that person's consent, intending or knowing it to be likely that such force will cause injury, fear, or annoyance. By pouring boiling water into the bath without Y's consent and with ill intention, A intentionally uses his own bodily power to cause motion in the boiling water, bringing it into contact with Y and affecting Y's sense of feeling. Since this act is done intentionally without consent and with the knowledge that it will cause injury or annoyance, it satisfies all the statutory requirements to constitute the offence of criminal force.

Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) (a) and (b)
Explanation
According to Section 349 of the Indian Penal Code, force is caused in one of three specified ways. The first is by the person's own bodily power, which corresponds directly to statement (a). The second is by disposing any substance in such a manner that the motion, change of motion, or cessation of motion takes place without any further act on his part or on the part of any other person, which corresponds to statement (b). Statement (c) is incorrect because the third method specified in Section 349 is by inducing any animal to move, change its motion, or cease to move, whereas statement (c) uses the phrase by not inducing. Therefore, only statements (a) and (b) are included in the definition of force.

Read the following passage and answer the questions 16 to 20.
Hurdles in PM- Kisan Scheme.
The Modi government's cash- for- farmers programme has been able to benefit only half of the 140 million farmers targeted in 2019- 20 due to implementation hurdles, according to figures presented in Parliament. The next disbursal, now due, is likely to leave out those who have not been able to link their bank accounts with Aadhaar, the universal 12- digit biometric identity number.
Under PM- KISAN, the government provides income support of ₹ 6,000 a year to farmers with a valid enrolment, paid in three equal cash transfers of ₹ 2,000 - one every four months. It was launched on 24 February 2019, when the first instalment was paid.
At the current rate of expansion, the government is unlikely to spend the entire ₹ 75,000 crore budgeted for 2019- 20. As on October 21, 2019, the government has spent ₹ 32,577 crore, or 43% of this.
Aadhaar- based enrolment and cash transfers, slow internet connections in many rural centres and messy land records have slowed the programme, the farm ministry told a parliamentary panel this month.
Cash transfers under the programme take place every four months: December to March, April to July and August to November. In the first instalment period (December 2018 to March 2019), nearly 70.2 million farmers received a total of ₹ 14,055 crore. In the second tranche (April to July 2019), only 59.2 million were paid a total amount of ₹ 11,845 crore. The third instalment saw 33.3 million farmers benefiting, with a payout of ₹ 6,677 crore.
There's a reason those numbers look out of place. After all, if 70.2 million farmers received the first instalment, why did only 59.2 receive a second instalment and only 33.3 million a third? The agriculture ministry counts the first tranche paid to a farmer, even if it was paid for the second period due to late enrolment, as the 'first instalment paid'. This means even if a farmer enrolled in the second period (April to July 2019) and got his instalment for this period as his first ever cash transfer, he will be counted among those receiving the first instalment (December 2018 to March 2019). This inflates the total number of farmers, as shown above.
Ir. all, of the targeted 140 million farmers, nearly 71 million farmers have so far received the payouts, as the ministry noted before the parliamentary panel. "I would like to make it clear that the total number of farmers who have got the benefit is right now 7,17,42,959", a ministry official said in the report to Parliament.
That leave another 69 million to be targeted by March. Based on these, 33.3 million farmers benefited from the scheme between December 2018 and March 2019 (they have received three instalments), with an additional 25.9 million benefited from it between April and July (they have received two), and an additional 11 between August and November (they have received only one).
According to the scheme's design, farmers registered for the scheme in the first stage would have received all three instalments released so far since the start of the scheme. Farmers who registered during the second period would not have receives the first instalment but would have received the next two, because the benefits are not retrospective.
Consider the following statements :
(a) Under PM-Kisan, the government provides income support of ₹ 6,000 in a year.
(b) This income support is released in instalments.

Answer: (D) (a) and (b) both are correct
Explanation
Under the PM-KISAN scheme, the government provides income support of ₹ 6,000 per year to eligible landholding farmer families. This financial benefit is released in three equal instalments of ₹ 2,000 each, disbursed every four months directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. This confirms both that the annual income support is ₹ 6,000 and that it is released in instalments.

Answer: (D) (a) and (b) both are correct
Explanation
The passage highlights that the PM-Kisan scheme faced significant implementation hurdles, resulting in only half of the targeted 140 million farmers receiving benefits. These hurdles include slow internet connections, Aadhaar-based enrolment issues, and messy land records, which shows that the implementation of the scheme suffers from basic lacunae, making statement (a) correct.
Furthermore, the text notes that future disbursals are likely to exclude farmers who fail to link their accounts with Aadhaar, and identifies messy land records as a key factor slowing down the programme. To streamline the identification of beneficiaries and ensure direct benefit transfer, the integration and effective linking of Aadhaar with land records is crucial, making statement (b) correct.

Physics Passage
The general motion of a massive object under the influence of the Earth's gravitational force can be solved in closed form using Newton's second law. The gravitational force is given by :
F = (GmMe)/(R²)
Where G is the universal gravitational constant, m is the mass of the object, Me is the mass of the Earth and R is the distance of the object from the center of the Earth. One result of this analysis is that Kepler's laws can be derived for satellites orbiting the Earth. These three laws were originally discovered by Johannes Kepler (1571- 1630) based on observations of the motion of the planets about the Sun.
They are as follows :
(I) All satellites move in elliptical orbits with the Earth at one focus. (II) A line that connects a satellite to the center of the Earth sweeps out equal areas in equal times. (III) The square of the period of any satellite is proportional to the cube of the semimajor axis of its orbit.
For objects near the surface of the Earth, a great simplification in the mathematics occurs by approximating the gravitational force to be a constant. Let R = Re + h , where Re is the radius of the Earth, h is distance of the object from earth surface. The gravitational force can now be written as :
F = (GmMe)/((Re + h)²)
Which is approximately equal to (GmMe)/(Re²) when h < Re . This constant force is usually set equal to mg, where g is defined to be the free- fall acceleration.
(Note : G = 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ ~N · m² / kg² . The mass of the Earth is Me = 5.98 × 10²⁴ ~kg and its radius is Re = 6.37 × 10⁶ ~m )
Two balls of unequal mass are dropped from the same height. If the gravitational force is assumed to be constant, then the theory predicts that they will hit the Earth's surface at the same time. If the actual force is used instead, then the theory predicts :
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (A) that the ball with the larger mass will hit first.
Explanation
According to Newton's law of gravitation and Newton's second law of motion, when a ball of mass m is dropped near the Earth of mass Me, both objects exert an equal and opposite gravitational force on each other and accelerate toward their mutual center of mass.
The acceleration of the ball toward the Earth is:
a_ball = GMe/R²
The acceleration of the Earth toward the ball is:
a_Earth = Gm/R²
The relative acceleration with which the ball and the Earth move toward each other is the sum of their individual accelerations:
a_rel = a_ball + a_Earth = G(Me + m)/R²
A ball with a larger mass m increases the sum (Me + m), which makes the relative acceleration a_rel larger. Consequently, the distance between the ball and the Earth decreases at a faster rate.
The exact free-fall time t for two mutually attracting masses to collide is given by:
t = (π/2) × √(R³ / (2G(Me + m)))
Since the collision time t is inversely proportional to the square root of the combined mass √(Me + m), the system with the larger mass m will have a shorter fall time. Therefore, the theory predicts that the ball with the larger mass will hit the Earth's surface first.

● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (D) (GMe)/((Re + h)²)
Explanation
The force of gravity acting on an object of mass m at a height h above the Earth's surface is given by the formula F = G m Me / (Re + h)², where Re is the radius of the Earth, Me is the mass of the Earth, and G is the universal gravitational constant. According to Newton's second law of motion, this gravitational force is also equal to the product of the mass of the object and the acceleration due to gravity g at that height, which is written as F = m g. By equating these two expressions, m g = G m Me / (Re + h)², and dividing both sides by the mass of the object m, we obtain the expression for the acceleration due to gravity as a function of height: g = G Me / (Re + h)².
23Quantitative Aptitude
Read the following passage and answer the questions from 21 to 25.
Physics Passage
The general motion of a massive object under the influence of the Earth's gravitational force can be solved in closed form using Newton's second law. The gravitational force is given by :
F = (GmMe)/(R²)
F = (GmMe)/((Re + h)²)
A satellite of mass m is in circular orbit around the Earth at a distance R from the Earth's center. If R is increased by a factor of 4, then the period of the orbit will be :
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (C) increased by a factor of 8
Explanation
Kepler's Third Law of planetary motion states that the square of the orbital period T of a satellite is directly proportional to the cube of its orbital radius R:
T² ∝ R³
Taking the square root on both sides gives:
T ∝ √(R³)
If the orbital radius R is increased by a factor of 4, the new orbital period T' becomes:
T' ∝ √((4R)³) = √(64R³) = 8√(R³)
Thus, the orbital period of the satellite will increase by a factor of 8.

Consider a satellite in circular orbit around the Earth at a distance R from the Earth's center. The area that the satellite sweeps out as it moves through an angle φ is given by A = R²φ /2. Kepler's second law implies that the time that it takes for the satellite to move through 2φ is :
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (A) double the time that it takes to move through φ.
Explanation
Kepler's second law states that the areal velocity of a satellite, which is the rate at which area is swept out by the position vector relative to the center of force, is constant. Mathematically, this is expressed as dA/dt = constant, which implies that the area swept out is directly proportional to the time interval, A ∝ t.
The area swept out by a satellite in a circular orbit of radius R as it moves through an angle φ is A₁ = R²φ/2. When the satellite moves through an angle of 2φ, the area swept out becomes A₂ = R²(2φ)/2 = 2 A₁. Since the area swept out is doubled, and because area is directly proportional to time, the time required to sweep out this doubled area must also be twice as long. Therefore, the time taken to move through 2φ is double the time that it takes to move through φ.

The general motion of a massive object under the influence of the Earth's gravitational force can be solved in closed form using Newton's second law. The gravitational force is given by :
F = GmMₑ/R²
Where G is the universal gravitational constant, m is the mass of the object, Mₑ is the mass of the Earth and R is the distance of the object from the center of the Earth. One result of this analysis is that Kepler's laws can be derived for satellites orbiting the Earth. These three laws were originally discovered by Johannes Kepler (1571- 1630) based on observations of the motion of the planets about the Sun.

For objects near the surface of the Earth, a great simplification in the mathematics occurs by approximating the gravitational force to be a constant. Let R = Rₑ + h , where Rₑ is the radius of the Earth, h is distance of the object from earth surface. The gravitational force can now be written as :
F = GmMₑ/(Rₑ + h)²
Which is approximately equal to GmMₑ/Rₑ² when h < Rₑ . This constant force is usually set equal to mg, where g is defined to be the free- fall acceleration.

The amount of energy needed to move a rocket having mass m from the surface of the Earth to a distance R from the Earth's center is E = GmMₑ(1/Rₑ - 1/R). What is the minimum velocity, the rocket must have in order to completely escape the Earth's gravitational field ?
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) (2GMₑ/Rₑ)^½
Explanation
To completely escape the gravitational field of the Earth, the final distance of the rocket from the Earth's center must approach infinity, meaning R → ∞.
Substituting R → ∞ into the given energy equation for the rocket yields the total escape energy required:
E = GmMₑ/Rₑ
This energy is provided entirely by the initial kinetic energy of the rocket at the surface of the Earth, which is given by:
K = ½mv²
By the law of conservation of energy, equating the kinetic energy to the required escape energy gives:
½mv² = GmMₑ/Rₑ
Canceling the mass of the rocket m on both sides:
½v² = GMₑ/Rₑ
v² = 2GMₑ/Rₑ
v = (2GMₑ/Rₑ)^½

Plant kingdom includes algae, bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms and angiosperms. Algae are chlorophyll- bearing simple, thalioid, autotrophic and largely aquatic organisms. Depending on the type of pigment possessed and the type of stored food, algae are classified into three classes, namely Chlorophyceae, Phaeophyceae and Rhodophyceae. Algae usually reproduce vegetatively by fragmentation, asexually by formation of different types of spores and sexually by formation of gametes which may show isogamy, anisogamy or oogamy.
Bryophytes are plants which can live in soil but are dependent on water for sexual reproduction. Their plant body is more differentiated than that of algae. It is thallus- like and prostrate or erect and attached to the substratum by rhizoids. They possess root- like, leaf- like and stem- like structures. The bryophytes are divided into liverworts and mosses. The plant body of liverworts is thalioid and dorsiventral whereas mosses have upright, slender axes bearing spirally arranged leaves. The main plant body of a bryophyte is gamete- producing and is called a gametophyte. It bears the male sex organs called antheridia and female sex organs called archegonia. The male and female gametes produced fuse to form zygote which produces a multicellular body called a sporophyte. It produces haploid spores. The spores germinate to form gametophytes.
In pteridophytes the main plant is a sporophyte which is differentiated into true root, stem and leaves. These organs possess well- differentiated vascular tissues. The sporophytes bear sporangia which produce spores. The spores germinate to form gametophytes which require cool, damp. Places to grow. The gametophytes bear male and female sex organs called antheridia and archegonia, respectively. Water is required for transfer of male gametes to archegonium where zygote is formed after fertilisation. The zygote produces a sporophyte.
The gymnosperms are the plants in which ovules are not enclosed by any ovary wall. After fertilisation the seeds remain exposed and therefore these plants are called naked- seeded plants. The gymnosperms produce microspores and megaspores which are produced in microsporangia and megasporangia borne on the sporophylls. The sporophylls - microsporophylls and megasporophylls - are arranged spirally on axis to form male and female cones, respectively. The pollen grain germinates and pollen tube releases the male gamete into the ovule, where it fuses with the egg cell in archegonia. Following fertilisation, the zygote develops into embryo and the ovules into seeds.
Algae is dependant upon other living organisms for their food and they have various pigments in them.
(a) The above statement is completely correct.
(b) The former half of the above statement is correct.
(c) The above statement is completely wrong.
(d) The former half of the above statement is wrong.
Answer Options :
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (C) Only (d)
Explanation
Algae are autotrophic organisms, which means they synthesize their own food through photosynthesis and are not dependent on other living organisms for sustenance. This makes the former half of the given statement wrong. Algae possess various photosynthetic pigments such as chlorophylls, carotenoids, and phycobilins, which makes the latter half of the statement correct. Because only the first half of the statement is incorrect, statement (d) is the correct evaluation.

In bryophyta, haploid spores are produced in ______.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted

Answer: (A) Multicellular sporophyte
Explanation
In bryophytes, the diploid zygote does not immediately undergo meiosis. Instead, it divides mitotically to develop into a multicellular diploid body called a sporophyte. This sporophyte is not free-living but remains physically attached to the photosynthetic gametophyte to derive nourishment from it. Specialized cells within the sporophyte, specifically inside the capsule, undergo meiotic reduction division to produce haploid spores. Upon maturation, these haploid spores are released and germinate to give rise to new gametophytes. Therefore, the haploid spores are produced within the multicellular sporophyte.

The CO₂ produced as a result of decomposition is given by the soils and in turn, atmospheric oxygen is absorbed. This interchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide take place by wind movements, difference is temperature and pressure, drainage of soils and many other processes. When sewage is applied on land, the chemical process of oxidation takes place in which organic matter of the sewage is oxidised by bacteria. Filtration is the principal physical action that is involved in the purification of sewage by land treatment. Sewage as it passes through the layers of the soils gives out suspended particles which are retained by the voids of the soil. In presence of sufficient aeration, these particles are oxidised by aerobic bacteria. This physical action mainly depends on the nature of the soil. Most suitable and satisfactory filtration takes place in porous, loamy or sandy soils. The heavy soils such as clay are not very suitable for filtration, while rocky soils are most unsuitable for filtration.
The major portion present in sewage is water, and it can be used for irrigation. Sewage also contains nitrogen, potash, phosphate, organic acids etc and so it has a good fertilizer value, because these constituents present in sewage can be directly used by the plants for their growth. In this way, sewage increases the fertility of the soils and also improves the condition of the soil. The type of crop that can be grown, mainly depends on the quality of sewage and health regulations concerning the use of sewage on crops.
During the aerobic decomposition of sewage, by bacteria ______.
(a) the required oxygen is directly taken from the atmosphere
(b) the produced carbon dioxide is interchanged with the atmospheric oxygen
(c) the carbon dioxide present in different layers of soil is used

Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) (b)
Explanation
According to the passage, the oxygen required for the aerobic decomposition of sewage is present in different layers of the soil. The decomposition process produces carbon dioxide, which is released by the soil and subsequently interchanged with atmospheric oxygen through wind movements, temperature and pressure differences, and soil drainage. Therefore, statement (b) is correct as it accurately describes this interchange of the produced carbon dioxide with atmospheric oxygen.

Answer: (D) (a), (c) and (d)
Explanation
Statement (a) is correct as the passage explicitly mentions that filtration is the principal physical action involved in the purification of sewage by land treatment. Statement (c) is correct because the passage states that sewage contains nutrients like nitrogen, potash, and phosphate, which have a good fertilizer value, thereby increasing the fertility of the soils. Statement (d) is correct because the passage notes that the organic matter present in sewage undergoes decomposition by aerobic and non-aerobic bacteria.

Political education may be defined as the preparation of a citizen to take well informed, responsible and sustained action for participation in the national struggle for the realization of the socio- economic objectives of the country. The overriding socio- economic objectives in India are the abolition of poverty and the creation of a modern democratic, secular and socialist society in place of the present traditional, feudal, hierarchical and inegalitarian one.
Under British rule, the Congress leaders argued that political education was an important part of education and refused to accept the official view that education and politics should not be mixed with one another. But when they came to power in 1947, they almost adopted the British policy and began to talk of education being defiled by politics. 'Hands off education' was the call to political parties. But inspite of it, political infiltration into the educational system has greatly increased in the sense that different political parties vie with each other to capture the minds of teachers and students. The wise academicians wanted political support, without political interference. What we have actually received is infinite political interference with little genuine political support. This interference with the educational system by political parties for their own ulterior motives is no political education at all; and with the all- round growth of elitism, it is hardly a matter for surprise that real political education within the school system (which really means the creation of a commitment to social transformation) has been even weaker than in the pre- independence period.
At the same time, the freedom struggle came to an end and the major non- formal agency of political education disappeared. The press could and did provide some political education. But it did not utilize the opportunity to the full and the stranglehold of vested interests continued to dominate it. The same can be said of political parties as well as of other institutions and agencies outside the school system which can be expected to provide political education. Most things considered, it appears that we have made no progress in genuine political education in the Post independence period and have even sided back in some respects. For instance, the education system has become even more elite- oriented. Patriotism has become the first casualty. Gandhi gave us the courage to oppose the government when it was wrong, in a disciplined fashion and based on principles. He believed the means to be as important as the ends and taught us to work among the poor people for mobilizing and organizing them. Today, we have even lost the courage to fight on basic Issues in a disciplined manner because agitation and anarchic politics for individual, group or party aggrandizement has become common. The education system of today continues to support the domination of the privileged groups and domestication of the underprivileged ones. The Situation will not change unless we take vigorous steps to provide genuine political education on an adequate scale. This is one of the major educational reforms we need; and if it is not carried out, mere linear expansion of the existing system of formal education will only support the status quo and hamper radical social transformation.

Answer: (B) They got no political support with political interference.
Explanation
According to the passage, while academicians desired political support without political interference, the post-independence reality turned out to be the exact opposite. The educational institutions actually received infinite political interference with little to no genuine political support, as political parties began to interfere with the system for their own ulterior motives rather than supporting constructive educational development.

Explanation

Read the given passage carefully and answer the question S.No. 46 to 50 on the basis of the content of the passage.
The richness of great books shows itself in the many levels of meaning they contain. They lend themselves to a variety of interpretation. This does not mean they are ambiguous or that their integrity is compromised. The different interpretations complement one another and allow the reader to discover the unity of the work from a variety of perspectives. We need not read other books more than once to get all that they have to say. But we can always go deeper into great books. As sources of enlightenment, they are inexhaustible.
The interest in many good books that are written is limited to a definite period of history. They do not exhibit the universal appeal that results from dealing with the fundamental questions which confront men in all times and places and in a way that men in all times and places can understand. Great books, on the contrary, transcend the provincial limits of their origin. They remain as world literature. The ones we are sure are great, are the once men everywhere turn to again and again through the centuries.
In view of this, it is often said that great books must pass the test of time. This is quite true. But it is not the passage of time that makes the book great. They were great when they were written. An enduring interest in a book merely confirms its greatness. We may consider some contemporary books great, but we cannot be sure. Their excellence still remains to be proved before the tribunal of the ages.
Mark Twain once remarked that "the great books are the books that everyone wishes he had read, but no one wants to read." People wish they had read them because they are the indispensible material of a liberal education. They shy away from reading them because these books require thought. And thinking is hard. It is probably one of the most painful things that human beings are called upon to do.
The great books are not easy to read. No one should expect to understand them very well on a first reading, no even to master them fully after many readings. I have often said that they are the books which are over everyone's head all of the time. That is why they must be read and re- read. That is also why they are good for us. Only the thing which are over our head can lift us up.
Choose the best option :
The great books ________ provincial limits.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (D) rise above
Explanation
The second paragraph of the passage states that great books transcend the provincial limits of their origin. To transcend means to go beyond, surpass, or rise above. Therefore, great books rise above provincial limits, which allows them to remain as world literature with a universal and enduring appeal across all times and places.

Statement (e) is correct because the text highlights that great books must pass the test of time, asserting that an enduring, long-lasting interest in a book confirms its greatness.
50Reading Comprehension

51Logical Reasoning
Two teams are to be formed for completing two different projects in stipulated time using students A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H. If G and H are selected as the members of team 1, select the members of team 2 with respect to the following conditions.
There should be at most five students or at least four students in a first team. Each student is to be selected for only one project. For smooth working it is useful to include C along with A as they enjoy working together but A and H always waste time in debating. B and F are not comfortable to work with C. E comfortably works with A and D but not with G.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (C) A, C, D and E
Explanation
Since G and H are selected for Team 1, and A and H cannot work together, A must be assigned to Team 2.
Because C and A must work together, C is also assigned to Team 2.
Since B and F cannot work with C, and C is in Team 2, both B and F must be in Team 1.
This places four members (G, H, B, and F) in Team 1. Since the total number of students is eight, and each team must have at least four members, both teams must contain exactly four members.
Thus, the remaining four students, A, C, D, and E, must form Team 2. This assignment also satisfies the final condition because E is in Team 2 while G is in Team 1.

Study information given and select valid conclusion/s from the given statements based on it.
In a joint family the number of members who take only coffee is equal to the half the number of members who take tea and the number of persons who take only tea is equal to the half the number of persons who take coffee.
Statements :
(a) The total number of persons who take either coffee or tea or both is thrice the number of persons who take only coffee or only tea.
(b) The total number of persons who take only coffee and those who take only tea is twice the number of persons who take both coffee and tea.
Answer Options :
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (C) Both (a) and (b)
Explanation
Let the number of family members who take only coffee be C, those who take only tea be T, and those who take both coffee and tea be B.
The total number of members who take tea is T + B, and the total number of members who take coffee is C + B.
According to the given conditions:
C = ½ (T + B) which simplifies to 2C = T + B
T = ½ (C + B) which simplifies to 2T = C + B
Subtracting the second equation from the first:
2C - 2T = T - C
3C = 3T
C = T
Let C = T = x. Substituting this back into the first equation:
2x = x + B
B = x
Thus, C = T = B = x.
Evaluating Statement (a):
The total number of persons who take either coffee or tea or both is:
C + T + B = x + x + x = 3x
The number of persons who take only coffee or only tea is x. Thrice this value is 3x, which validates Statement (a).
Evaluating Statement (b):
The total number of persons who take only coffee and those who take only tea is:
C + T = x + x = 2x
The number of persons who take both is B = x. Twice this value is 2x, which validates Statement (b).

Study the following information and select guilty person.
Ram was visiting a place where inhabitants always answer any question with two sentences. One of these is always true while other is always false. While on the visit he found that his bag has been stolen and he suspected three persons those visited his guest room. He was sure that only one person is guilty. When he questioned them they replied as follows.
R : S did not do it. I did not do it.
S : I did not do it. P did not do it.
T : I did not do it. I did not know who did it.
Answer Options :

Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) S
Explanation
Each person must make exactly one true statement and one false statement. Under the scenario where S is guilty, S is the only culprit, while R, T, and P are innocent.
Under this scenario, R's first statement (S did not do it) is false, and R's second statement (I did not do it) is true.
S's first statement (I did not do it) is false, and S's second statement (P did not do it) is true.
T's first statement (I did not do it) is true, and T's second statement (I did not know who did it) is false, which implies T knew that S was the culprit.
This scenario satisfies all the conditions of the puzzle perfectly.

Vini travels by monorail to work. She has to use escalator to reach the platform. It takes her 21.0 seconds to reach the top of the escalator if she runs 8 steps. If she runs 13 steps it takes only 13.5 seconds. Select the number of seconds that she would require to reach the top of escalator if she decides not to run any step.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) 33
Explanation
Let N be the total number of steps on the escalator, and r be the speed of the escalator in steps per second.
When Vini runs 8 steps, she takes 21.0 seconds to reach the top. During this time, the escalator moves 21.0 × r steps. The sum of these steps equals the total steps of the escalator:
N = 8 + 21.0 × r
When Vini runs 13 steps, she takes 13.5 seconds. During this time, the escalator moves 13.5 × r steps:
N = 13 + 13.5 × r
Equating both expressions for N:
8 + 21.0 × r = 13 + 13.5 × r
7.5 × r = 5
r = 2/3 steps per second
Substituting the value of r back to find the total steps N:
N = 8 + 21.0 × (2/3) = 8 + 14 = 22 steps
If Vini decides not to run any steps, she stands stationary on the escalator. The time t required for her to reach the top is:
t = N / r = 22 / (2/3) = 33 seconds

An equilateral triangle is inscribed in a circle. Select the option that indicates how many times is the area of circle with respect to the area of triangle.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (C) (4 π)/(3√(3))
Explanation
Let the radius of the circle be R. For an equilateral triangle of side length a inscribed in this circle, the relationship between the circumradius R and the side length a is given by the formula:
R = a / √3
a = R √3
The area of the equilateral triangle is:
Area_triangle = (√3 / 4) a² = (√3 / 4) (R √3)² = (3 √3 / 4) R²
The area of the circle is:
Area_circle = π R²
To find how many times the area of the circle is with respect to the area of the triangle, we divide the area of the circle by the area of the triangle:
Ratio = Area_circle / Area_triangle = (π R²) / ((3 √3 / 4) R²) = 4π / (3 √3)

Answer: (D) M
Explanation
To find the book that is a new law book with a blue cover, we look for the common book across the three specified categories. The books with blue covers are M, P, N, and Q. The new volumes are L, M, and Q. The law books are L, M, and N. Taking the intersection of these three groups, book M is the only book that satisfies all three criteria of having a blue cover, being a new volume, and being a law book.

Two of the four statements given below cannot be true simultaneously but they can be false at the same time. Select the option that indicates the pair of statements that satisfy given conditions.
Statements :
(a) No citizen of smart city X wastes a single drop of water.
(b) Some citizens of smart city X use water carefully.
(c) Every citizen of smart city X uses water without caring about water crisis.
(d) Some citizens of smart city X use water carelessly.
Answer Options :
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) (a) and (c)
Explanation
In deductive logic and the square of opposition, contraries are defined as two propositions that cannot both be true at the same time, but can both be false. This relationship typically exists between universal affirmative and universal negative propositions.
Statement (a) is a universal negative proposition, asserting that no citizen of smart city X wastes water. Statement (c) is a universal affirmative proposition, asserting that every citizen of smart city X uses water carelessly.
These two statements cannot be true simultaneously because a population cannot consist entirely of people who do not waste water and simultaneously consist entirely of people who waste water. However, both statements can be false at the same time. This occurs when the population is mixed, meaning some citizens use water carefully while other citizens use water carelessly. In this scenario, both universal claims (a) and (c) are false.

Sana wanted to compare her students' performance after completion of present term with respect to Historical understanding. After analysing their documents related to history activities and assignments and their records of class work, she found that Ashu's performance level is higher during the term than that of Beena. Karim's performance is of lower level than that of Dharm. Beena's performance is of lower level than Karim's and Ashu's performance level is higher than Mike.
Which of the following statement based on above information is incorrect ?
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) Beena certainly ranks fourth when performance is arranged in descending order.
Explanation
The performance relationships derived from the given information are:
Dharm > Karim > Beena
Ashu > Beena
Ashu > Mike
To determine the rank of Beena when the five students are arranged in descending order, we must consider the possible positions of Mike. Since there is no information comparing Mike with Dharm, Karim, or Beena, and no comparative link between Ashu and Dharm or Karim, multiple orderings are possible.
If the performance order is Dharm > Karim > Ashu > Mike > Beena, Beena ranks fifth.
If the performance order is Dharm > Karim > Ashu > Beena > Mike, Beena ranks fourth.
Since Beena's position depends entirely on the relative performance of Mike, she does not certainly rank fourth in the descending order. Therefore, the statement is incorrect.
59Logical Reasoning
Study the following statements and select the valid conclusion based on these from given options.
(a) Members of farmer's families only can appear for the agricultural university admission examinations.
(b) Some girls are appearing for admission examination.
(c) All girls candidates are given free coaching for one NGO.
Answer Options :
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (D) None of the above given conclusion is relevant to information.
Explanation
The premises establish that only members of farmer families can appear for the exam. This means appearing candidates are a subset of farmer families, but it does not mean every farmer family has a candidate appearing. Furthermore, while all girl candidates receive free coaching, this does not imply that the coaching is exclusive to girls, nor that all exam candidates receive it. Because no such logical deductions can be made from the premises, the conclusion stating that none of the statements is relevant to the information is correct.

Zina has written down four natural numbers in column. She chose three of these numbers at a time such that all numbers had equal chances of getting added. Each triple she came up with sums 186, 206, 215 and 194. Select the largest number that Zina has written.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (C) 81
Explanation
Let the four natural numbers written by Zina be a, b, c, and d.
Choosing three numbers at a time and summing them gives four distinct equations:
a + b + c = 186
a + b + d = 194
a + c + d = 206
b + c + d = 215
Adding these four equations together yields:
3 × (a + b + c + d) = 186 + 194 + 206 + 215
3 × (a + b + c + d) = 801
Dividing by 3, we find the sum of all four numbers:
a + b + c + d = 267
To find the largest individual number, we subtract the smallest sum of three numbers from the total sum of all four numbers:
Largest number = 267 - 186 = 81

A's house is located to the east of houses of B and C. Houses of D and E are located to the north of B's house. In the early morning shadow of E's two storied house falls on D's house. E's house located to the west of C's house.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (A) A's house is located to the east of E's house.
Explanation
In the early morning, the Sun rises in the East, which means shadows are cast towards the West. Since the shadow of E's house falls on D's house, D's house must be located to the West of E's house. It is also given that E's house is located to the West of C's house, and A's house is located to the East of C's house, which means C's house is to the West of A's house. Combining these horizontal relationships from West to East gives the sequence: D is to the West of E, E is to the West of C, and C is to the West of A. This puts the houses in the direct West-to-East order of D, E, C, and A. Because E lies further to the West and A lies further to the East in this arrangement, A's house is definitely located to the East of E's house.

A natural number P is multiplied by 11 and 33 is added to it. This sum is divided by 9 and the remainder is zero. Select the smallest value of P that satisfies given conditions.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (C) 6
Explanation
The given condition states that when a natural number P is multiplied by 11 and 33 is added, the resulting sum is divisible by 9. This can be represented mathematically as:
11P + 33 ≡ 0 (mod 9)
By reducing the coefficients modulo 9, we get:
11 ≡ 2 (mod 9)
33 ≡ 6 (mod 9)
Substituting these values into the congruence relation:
2P + 6 ≡ 0 (mod 9)
2P ≡ -6 (mod 9)
2P ≡ 3 (mod 9)
To solve for P, we multiply both sides of the congruence by 5, which is the modular inverse of 2 modulo 9:
P ≡ 15 (mod 9)
P ≡ 6 (mod 9)
The smallest natural number P that satisfies this congruence is 6. For P = 6, the expression becomes 11 × 6 + 33 = 99, which is perfectly divisible by 9 with a remainder of zero.
63Logical Reasoning
A kidney can be taken safely from a living person, and can save the life of a dying patient. Given that the demand for kidney transplants exceeds the supply of donated kidneys, the law in the India that forbids people to sell one of their kidneys should be abolished, because this would result in a greater number of successful kidney transplants. People are worried that it would involve rich patients exploiting poor potential donors. But selling one's kidney to support one's family is not very much different from supporting one's family by working in a dangerous occupation. Some patients have bought kidneys and received transplants in other countries, where the risks to their life from such operations can be great.
Select an assumption supporting the above argument from following options.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) Some people in India are willing to sell a kidney.
Explanation
The argument concludes that abolishing the law forbidding the sale of kidneys in India would result in a greater number of successful kidney transplants. For this causal relationship to hold true, there must be a supply of kidneys available for purchase once the law is changed. If no individuals were willing to sell their kidneys, legalizing the practice would not lead to any increase in transplants. Therefore, the argument directly depends on the assumption that some people in India are willing to sell a kidney.

Below four statements and three conclusions are given. You have to take the given statements to be true. Decide which of the given conclusions logically true from given statements.
Statements : All roads are buses.
Some buses are cars.
Some cars are days.
All days are nights.
Conclusions : (I) Some nights are buses.
(II) Some nights are cars.
(III) Some days are buses.
Answer Options :
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted

Answer: (C) Only (II) true
Explanation
From the statement that some cars are days, there is a guaranteed overlap between the set of cars and the set of days. The statement that all days are nights means the entire set of days is contained within the set of nights. Since the overlapping region of cars and days lies entirely within the set of days, it must also lie within the set of nights. Therefore, there is a guaranteed overlap between nights and cars, making the conclusion that some nights are cars logically true.

The diameters of the bigger wheel and smaller wheel of a tractor are 50 cm and 35 cm respectively. How many revolutions will the smaller wheel make when the bigger one makes 21 revolutions ?
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (C) 30
Explanation
Distance covered by a wheel is given by the formula:
Distance = Circumference × Number of revolutions = π × Diameter × Number of revolutions
Since both the bigger and smaller wheels of the tractor cover the exact same distance, the relationship is:
π × D₁ × N₁ = π × D₂ × N₂
Simplifying the equation by canceling π on both sides:
D₁ × N₁ = D₂ × N₂
Read the following conversation carefully and using this as evidence, select the option that serves as a conclusion pointing to the disagreement between treasure hunter and archaeologist.
Treasure Hunter : In general, archaeological artefacts found on public property cannot legally be privately owned. Centuries-old maritime law allows persons who risk their lives attempting to rescue a sunken ship are permitted to keep whatever cargo they can salvage. Under this rule treasure hunters clearly are entitled to keep the cargo from ancient shipwrecks that they risk their lives to save from becoming extinct in salty ocean waters.
Archaeologist : Not so. These shipwrecks have stabilized over the centuries they have lain underwater. The only danger they are in is from greedy treasure hunters who destroy valuable archaeological evidence in their hurry to loot artefacts for making high profits.
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (D) In what sense, if any, an ancient shipwreck can be said to be in verge of extinction.
Explanation
The treasure hunter argues that ancient shipwrecks must be salvaged because they are in danger of becoming extinct in salty ocean waters, implying that natural oceanic conditions threaten their preservation. The archaeologist directly contradicts this by stating that the shipwrecks have stabilized over centuries and face no natural danger of disappearing, with the only real threat being human looting. Therefore, the core point of disagreement is whether, or in what sense, an ancient shipwreck can be considered on the verge of extinction or destruction.

Sanjay, Ashok and Ketan started a business with their investment in the ratio 1 : 3 : 5. After 4 months, Sanjay invested the same amount as before and Ashok as well as Ketan withdrew half of their investment. What is the ratio of their profits at the end of the year ?
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (C) 5 : 6 : 10
Explanation
Profit share in a partnership is directly proportional to the product of the investment and the time period. Let the initial investments of Sanjay, Ashok, and Ketan be 2, 6, and 10 units respectively to avoid fractional calculations.
For the first 4 months, the investments are:
Sanjay = 2 units
Ashok = 6 units
Ketan = 10 units
For the remaining 8 months:
Sanjay doubles his investment, making it 2 + 2 = 4 units.
Ashok withdraws half, leaving 6 - 3 = 3 units.
Ketan withdraws half, leaving 10 - 5 = 5 units.
Simplifying the ratio of profit shares:
Sanjay : Ashok : Ketan = 40 : 48 : 80 = 5 : 6 : 10

A committee of 10 members has to be formed from 15 men and 7 women. In how many ways can this be done when the committee consists of at least 6 women ?
● Correct
● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (B) 10010
Explanation
The selection is made using the combination formula ⁿCᵣ = n! / (r! × (n - r)!).
To form a committee of 10 members from 15 men and 7 women such that there are at least 6 women, there are two mutually exclusive cases: selecting 6 women and 4 men, or selecting 7 women and 3 men.
Case 1: Choosing 6 women from 7, and 4 men from 15.
Number of ways = ⁷C₆ × ¹⁵C₄
⁷C₆ = 7
¹⁵C₄ = (15 × 14 × 13 × 12) / (4 × 3 × 2 × 1) = 1365
Number of ways = 7 × 1365 = 9555
Case 2: Choosing 7 women from 7, and 3 men from 15.
Number of ways = ⁷C₇ × ¹⁵C₃
⁷C₇ = 1
¹⁵C₃ = (15 × 14 × 13) / (3 × 2 × 1) = 455
Number of ways = 1 × 455 = 455
Total number of ways = 9555 + 455 = 10010

● Not quite — the correct answer is highlighted
Show answer & explanationHide answer⌄
Answer: (D) Since some studies have demonstrated that triclosan may have potential to affect bone density in animals, it is necessary to ban its use in various products used by humans.
Explanation
Based on the provided text, laboratory studies have shown that triclosan has the potential to adversely affect bone density in animals. In public health and consumer safety, the precautionary principle dictates that when a chemical widely used in everyday human products like soaps, toothpastes, and sanitizers demonstrates potential toxicity or adverse health effects in animal models, proactive measures should be taken. Since humans are continuously exposed to these products, demonstrating this potential harm in animal models provides a valid scientific basis to ban or restrict its use in consumer goods to prevent potential harm to human bone health before definitive damage is widespread.

The most direct, effective, and immediate solution to prevent these fatalities is to eliminate human contact with hazardous sewage by substituting manual labor with mechanical alternatives. Prioritizing the collection of funds and collaborating with innovators to develop technological gadgets and automated systems ensures a practical and immediate reduction in human risk. This technological intervention directly addresses the core physical hazard, thereby safeguarding human lives from the most dangerous aspects of scavenging work.

While travelling to this place you came across many small settlements where tribal people were living in depleted shanties, though the area is full of natural resources like forests, rivers, springs and water ponds. When you inquired, people told that all the resources were grabbed by developers of old age home, forcing them to settle in small areas. Answer: (C) attend the gathering, get correct information about the situation and convince the organizers and inmates to have some sympathy towards the real owners of the resources during your speech in a friendly manner.
Explanation
As a senior civil officer, the primary responsibility is to implement sustainable, structural, and long-term solutions that empower marginalized populations like the tribal community.
While tribal groups are often deprived of access to local natural resources, temporary administrative orders or emotional appeals for sympathy from private entities do not resolve the systemic issues.
Collaborating with academic institutions, particularly college teachers and students of humanities and sociology, brings practical expertise to understand local socio-economic dynamics. Designing and executing an empowerment plan with their assistance ensures that the tribal community becomes aware of their rights and develops sustainable livelihoods. Securing corporate social responsibility funds provides the necessary financial capital to support these developmental initiatives. This comprehensive approach builds community-led self-reliance and guarantees long-term welfare.

Your report shows that these units grossly violate pollution norms. Answer: (A) get your findings confirmed from another laboratory that is run by organisation engaged in similar work and then disclose the results to public.
Explanation
As the head of an environmental NGO, maintaining scientific accuracy and institutional credibility is the highest priority when dealing with public interest disclosures. When government officials attempt to tarnish the credibility of the report by pressurizing state laboratories, obtaining verification from an independent, external laboratory specializing in similar environmental audits ensures that the findings are scientifically robust and indisputable. This triangulation of data shields the NGO from allegations of bias or misinformation, neutralizing pressure tactics. Disclosing the findings to the public only after such rigorous validation ensures that the advocacy is backed by unassailable evidence, thereby preserving the NGO's integrity, protecting its registration through solid truth, and effectively holding the violating power generation units accountable.
