ఇది ఎందుకు ముఖ్యం
The food processing industry serves as a crucial link between agriculture and manufacturing, key to doubling farmers' incomes and reducing post-harvest losses. With over 99% of food processing units being in the unorganized micro sector, understanding PMFME's credit-linked subsidies, grassroots-level execution, and cooperative federalism (collaboration of states, banks, and SHGs) is vital for GS3 agricultural and economic development questions.
సారాంశం
The PMFME Conclave 2026, organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, celebrated the successful implementation of the PMFME Scheme by honoring top-performing States, lending banks, and grassroots functionaries. As a Centrally Sponsored Scheme under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, PMFME seeks to formalize and scale unorganized micro-food processing units across India. By providing credit-linked subsidies, seed capital to Self-Help Groups, and capacity-building through District Resource Persons, the scheme leverages the One District One Product (ODOP) approach to drive rural entrepreneurship, enhance compliance with food safety standards, and generate employment.
